Direct Marketing and Property Alerts Policy

This Direct Marketing and Property Alerts Policy explains how HomeMapr may send marketing communications, property alerts, promotional messages, and partner offers.

South Africa's Information Regulator has issued guidance on direct marketing under POPIA, and businesses should ensure that direct marketing is lawful, transparent, and includes opt-out mechanisms.

1. Marketing We May Send

HomeMapr may send:

  • property alerts;
  • saved search alerts;
  • listing recommendations;
  • newsletters;
  • agent or developer promotions;
  • new development alerts;
  • rental alerts;
  • sales alerts;
  • service updates;
  • partner offers;
  • advertising package promotions.

2. When We Send Marketing

We may send marketing where:

  • you have consented;
  • you subscribed to alerts;
  • you created an account and selected marketing preferences;
  • you submitted an enquiry and agreed to receive updates;
  • you are an existing customer and the communication relates to similar services;
  • the law otherwise permits the communication.

3. Opting Out

You may opt out of marketing at any time by:

  • clicking the "Unsubscribe" link in any marketing email;
  • updating your notification and alert preferences in your account settings;
  • emailing us at info@homemapr.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe";
  • contacting us directly via the platform.

Opting out of marketing does not affect service-related communications (e.g. listing approval notifications, enquiry responses, payment receipts), which we may still send as they are necessary to operate your account.

Opt-out requests will be processed within a reasonable time, and in any event within 5 business days.

4. How We Send Marketing

Marketing communications from HomeMapr may be sent via:

  • email;
  • SMS (where you have provided a mobile number and consented);
  • push notifications (if you have enabled them in your device or browser settings);
  • in-app notifications within the HomeMapr platform.

5. Property Alerts

Property alerts are notifications sent when new listings matching your saved search criteria become available. These are treated as a service feature, not purely as direct marketing.

You may manage or disable your property alerts at any time through your account settings. Disabling alerts will stop these notifications without affecting your account access.

6. Third-Party and Partner Marketing

HomeMapr may occasionally include offers from trusted third-party partners (e.g. financial institutions, insurance providers, or property service providers) in our communications. These will always be clearly identified as partner content.

HomeMapr does not sell your contact details to third parties for their own independent direct marketing purposes.

7. Record-Keeping

In accordance with POPIA, HomeMapr maintains records of consent given for direct marketing. If you have consented to receive marketing, we will retain a record of that consent. If you withdraw consent, we will update our records and cease sending marketing communications promptly.
