Acceptable Listing Policy

This Acceptable Listing Policy explains what may and may not be uploaded, advertised, published, or promoted on HomeMapr.com.

By creating an account, uploading a listing, submitting property information, or using HomeMapr's listing services, you agree to this policy.

1. Purpose of This Policy

HomeMapr is designed to provide a trusted platform for property listings in South Africa.

This policy helps protect:

  • buyers;
  • tenants;
  • sellers;
  • landlords;
  • estate agents;
  • developers;
  • service providers;
  • HomeMapr;
  • the public.

2. Who May Upload Listings

Listings may only be uploaded by users who have the lawful right or authority to advertise the property.

This may include:

  • property owners;
  • landlords;
  • sellers;
  • estate agents;
  • property developers;
  • authorised representatives;
  • property managers;
  • businesses with permission to advertise the property.

By uploading a listing, you confirm that you are legally entitled or authorised to advertise that property.

3. What You Must Include in a Listing

All listings on HomeMapr must include accurate and complete information, including:

  • the correct property address or general location;
  • the listing type (for sale, to rent, or auction);
  • the asking price or rental amount;
  • an accurate description of the property size, condition, and features;
  • at least one clear photograph of the property;
  • valid contact details for the listing agent or owner.

4. Prohibited Listings and Content

The following are strictly prohibited on HomeMapr:

  • listings for properties you do not own or are not authorised to advertise;
  • duplicate, spam, or test listings;
  • listings with false, misleading, or exaggerated information;
  • listings for properties that do not exist;
  • listings that discriminate based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, or any other protected characteristic;
  • listings that violate the Consumer Protection Act, the Rental Housing Act, or any other applicable South African legislation;
  • listings that include offensive, inappropriate, or illegal content;
  • listings used to solicit personal information fraudulently or to conduct scams;
  • listings for non-property goods or services unrelated to property.

5. Accuracy and Honesty

All information submitted on HomeMapr must be truthful, accurate, and not misleading. This includes:

  • property size, bedroom and bathroom counts, and amenities;
  • price — the advertised price must reflect the actual asking or rental price;
  • property condition — you must not conceal known material defects;
  • ownership and mandate — you must have the legal right to advertise the property.

HomeMapr reserves the right to verify any listing information and to remove listings that appear to be inaccurate or misleading.

6. Photographs and Media

All photographs and media uploaded to HomeMapr must:

  • be of the actual property being listed — stock images or unrelated photographs are not permitted;
  • be of reasonable quality and clearly show the property;
  • not contain watermarks from competing platforms;
  • not include personal information such as faces, vehicle registration numbers, or ID documents;
  • be owned by you or used with the permission of the copyright holder.

By uploading photographs, you grant HomeMapr a licence to display them on the platform for the duration the listing is active.

7. Pricing

All prices listed on HomeMapr must be accurate and reflect the genuine asking price or rental amount. HomeMapr does not permit:

  • artificially inflated prices designed to mislead;
  • prices significantly below market value used as bait advertising;
  • listings with no price where a price is required by law;
  • hidden fees or charges not disclosed in the listing.

8. Compliance with South African Law

All listings must comply with applicable South African legislation, including:

  • the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008;
  • the Rental Housing Act 50 of 1999;
  • the Estate Agency Affairs Act 112 of 1976 (for estate agents);
  • the Property Practitioners Act 22 of 2019;
  • the Sectional Titles Act 95 of 1986 (where applicable);
  • the Prevention of Illegal Eviction from and Unlawful Occupation of Land Act (PIE Act).

Estate agents and property practitioners must ensure their Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC) is current and valid.

9. Enforcement and Removal

HomeMapr reserves the right to remove, suspend, or reject any listing at its sole discretion, without prior notice, if:

  • the listing violates this policy or our Terms and Conditions;
  • the listing is reported by users as fraudulent, misleading, or inappropriate;
  • the listing appears to facilitate illegal activity;
  • the listing agent or owner's account is suspended or terminated.

Repeated violations may result in permanent account suspension. HomeMapr is not liable for any losses arising from the removal of a listing.

10. Reporting Violations

If you believe a listing on HomeMapr violates this policy, please report it to us at info@homemapr.com. Include the listing URL and a brief description of the issue. We will investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to This Policy

HomeMapr may update this Acceptable Listing Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
